Alalia
Elodie looked uncertainly at the sword gripped too tight in her hands, held out as far from her body as possible as if she expected it to leap up and bite her. She's seen Alalia use these things, why does it look so different now that she's holding it? ]
All right... What do I do with it?
no subject
[ She's helping.
And that slow walk around Elodie, circling her a little bit like a shark? Absolutely helping. ]
Your stance is a bit off. You're going to need to adjust that before we move onto anything else. What is it that has you so nervous, first of all?
no subject
What isn't there to be worried about?! If I don't handle this thing properly, it could cut my hand off! That's the kind of thing you need to be careful with!

Of course, she isn't going to have that whole 'nobody is looking' thing so when she sees the seemingly older girl there is only one response to be had here even as she holds her wine glass. ]
Nipa~✩
[ Nailed it. ]

This, though. This is what really gives her pause and she stares for a long moment, mouth hanging open before she can quite bring herself to say anything. ]
I-- Rika-chan? Is that...?
[ Because clearly she is either hallucinating and this is not actually Rika or there's a perfectly reasonable explanation for this that doesn't involve alcohol. ]
no subject
[ That is it, that is the answer to all of Yuuri's questions. Of course this is just Rika playing coy at this point. Even though she wasn't allowed to see any of the dead bodies due to her supposed age, it wasn't as if she'd cried or screamed over them, either. Maybe she would take a reaction but at this point, after repeatedly dying for over a thousand years, she was done.
Both in the literal and figurative sense.
She could honestly care less about bodies hitting the floor and she thought that maybe someone found entertainment in that. Then again, that's why they're here, isn't it? And more importantly why she is here, specifically.
Does she decide to tell the truth? Or does she... ]
It's just grape juice, Rii.
[ Yeah, she's going with the lie. ]
There's nothing to worry about. Maybe you're just tired and thought this was something else. Pat, pat, pat.
[ Why yes, she is offering headpats to pity her a bit. ]

Well. The people of Cennost looked up to her to cleanse and keep things in order. Wasn't that what she should do in the mansion as well? She had reverted her body to her normal human looking self when she exited that bathroom. She would wait.
One night, Caelina will find herself alone in their now shared bedroom. In the halls of the mansion if she would look for Synneve there would be a clearly strange figure. A tall figure, clearly over six feet, clad in what seemed to be shining gold armor. The face plate of the figure might be familiar as...well, a cast of Synneve's own face but that can't be right. The figure is much taller than Synneve.
Approach?]

She sucks in a hard breath when she turns a corner and claps eyes on the... thing in the shining armor. Muttering a curse under her breath in Adryaen, she fumbles under her cloak so she can draw her knife. ]

Rii-san in a ryokan? :3
The yukata-clad girl slides open the door to their room, smiling when her eyes catch Yuuri's.]
I checked with the attendants. The baths are ready now...
[Her smile turns a little shy, along with the trace of a blush tinting her cheeks. This trip has been nice, but it's also been far more intimate than she'd expected. She didn't know just how much she wanted to spend this time alone with Yuuri until it actually happened.]
Um, unless you'd rather do something else first! We still haven't gone out to see the gardens yet, and the baths will still be there all night.
[Maybe she's just getting a little shy about the baths because she knows how Yuuri is? They've shared a lot of little physical gestures of affection lately, little touches and hand-holding and helping each other with grooming. If that leads to helping each other bathe too... well, she'd actually kind of like that, but it's certainly something she's still a little flustered about! Especially since they'd be sequestered away from the more public women's baths and using a more private area, for security reasons.]
You know who
People Nao probably should leave alone.]
Kamiji-san!
[People like Ayaka Kamiji.]
You really should start coming to the weekly meetings! How else are we going to know where you are? It's not safe.
no subject
If it was something useful then she wouldn't have minded. If there was information to exchange. But all it ever becomes is a bunch of idiots sitting around and bemoaning the unfairness of the situation until Ayaka wants to tip over a table and scream Can't you see, you idiots?! Can't you see how wonderful this is?
So she doesn't go to the meetings. And for the most part, no one tries to make her. No one except Nao anyway. ]
How is it not safe? If you're all gathered together in one spot without me then I can't imagine a safer place to be but not at the meeting.

murdergame meme JUST GIVE ME /OUR/ GIRL, CLAIRE
she did notice that one of the schoolgirls, yuri, is looking a little too off during the trial. can't really blame her, since both the victim and the culprit are very important to her. so she slinks off towards her, a plate of some odd mushroom dish in her hands. ]
You don't look so good. If anything you look even worse.
[ sucy, ]

She hasn't understood it since they all woke up here together -- all four members of the Literature Club, all with one of those ridiculous titles and all expected to follow these ridiculous rules. They'd banded together, of course. They were a group of friends before they were a club (or so Yuri had liked to think) and for all their squabbles none of them are stupid enough to let that get in the way of survival.
Which is why it'd been such a shock when their first week into the game, someone had killed Natsuki. She was so small -- easy to overpower. It could've been any of them but it was the kind-eyed young woman they'd all thought of as a big sister who'd done it, who'd gone to her execution insisting that she had to, because she had a little sister to go home to and save.
It had been awful. She, Sayori and Monika had huddled together in Natsuki's room that night in a mournful wake after the fact. In fact, they'd all been sleeping there for the last few weeks so they'd all been present when they'd woken up, wide-eyed and shaking from memories none of them had known anything about before coming here. So Yuri should've known -- she should've seen that something was going horribly, awfully wrong.
But she doesn't. So it's a shock when they wake up on a Friday morning and find Monika at the bottom of the stairs, limbs at odd angles like a doll tossed carelessly to one side. Even in death, she still has that same curiously serene smile. And Yuri doesn't think, not for a moment, that Sayori would have anything to do with it. That her odd silence and wide, staring eyes were grief and nothing more.
Then it all comes out at the trial and Yuri can't make sense of any of it. Sayori babbles about -- deleting something, about the club presidency and Monika doing something awful and if she stopped her now, here, then maybe things back home would be alright. None of it makes sense and Yuri can only stare at her and hope that this is some sort of awful, awful dream.
It isn't. If it was, she thinks that execution would've been enough to wake her up.
At the afterparty, she's sat a little away from the others. Yuri keeps to herself anyway but she's been slowly opening up the last few weeks. Now though she's gone back to all her old habits. Closed off, head hung and throwing off all sorts of "don't talk to me" signals. Which is why it's a bit of a shock when Sucy actually does so.
Yuri starts a little and blinks, opens her mouth. Closes it. Then she gives a sigh. ]
Sucy. ...I--I'm sorry, I'm not... I don't think I can eat anything right now.

murdergame meme with rii-san; also full ndrv3 spoilers itp
This is not what you promised. Someone almost found out about my actual title, and if you really want to keep this 'game' running, you need to be keeping your end of the bargain, too.
[ —but of course, it seems that, upon looking at her, she seems to be talking to herself. How strange.

So she waits until there's a long enough break in the talking that when she leaves, it just might seem like she hasn't heard a thing. She's even wearing a polite smile as she does so. How nice. ]
Oh, Harukawa-san. I thought it was you. Is there something wrong? I thought I might've heard voices but I must be imagining things.

Hey Rii-san you ready for some ZAMBIES
One moment, it's just him and the guys on a trip to Japan for Noct's big wedding. Lunafreya Nox Fleuret, childhood friend, brilliant medical researcher and heir to a medical empire even more impressive than Crownsguard Inc., super gorgeous put-together babe--Prompto's wanted to meet her for years, but she's been busy working here on the other side of the world with Dr. Izunia and his dad. One moment, he's snapping away at tourist attractions and random passersby alike. One moment, they're happy.
The next, they're peeling out of Kyoto in the fancy car Ignis rented, screaming and shooting down moaning hordes of undead just like one of Noct's video games.
Then, they find the girls--almost a year later, but it still feels like the blink of an eye. All of them are leaner, all of them permanently exhausted, but the girl with the pink hair and the kitty hat points to him and calls him Tori-nii! and he almost forgets that the country, the world, likely everyone they love is dead. He would die for any one of these tiny girls without question, and there isn't even a discussion about not taking them along as they continue to look for Luna--Luna and the hope for a cure.
Rii-san's the one Ignis teaches how to drive the new car Prompto hotwires. Gladio's basically adopted Kurumi, training her in all the deadly wrestling moves he drilled into Iris. Noct and Mii-kun have struck up a quiet, unlikely friendship, and Prompto's happy to see she doesn't take any of his whining.
Prompto and Yuki-chan, of course, get along like a house on fire.
All in all, now that it's eight of them together, things aren't so bad. Even though ammo's limited for the one gun they have, Noct and Iggy and Gladio looted, like, an actual sword store, and anyway, running away always works best. Lunafreya's research facility is up in Hokkaido, so they drive and they run and they forage, and with Yuki-chan to cheer them on and cheer them up and Rii-san to take half the burden of mothering off Ignis, their life is just... better.
And then they reach Niflheim Labs, and it's all blown to pieces.
They don't take the girls with them. There's safety in numbers, yeah, but Ignis silently points out the military tank inside the fence and it's just not even a question. The four of them are all trained Crownsguard security (eh, sort of, in Prompto's case), and the girls are not. So it's only the four of them who discover the desperate men and women who'd once parachuted in as part of the first response against the epidemic, who face the guns and knives and shouting, who run deeper into the complex because they have Luna.
It's only the four of them who find the zombie experiments they've had the surviving scientists working on. It's only the four of them who see what's become of Ravus Nox Fleuret, Lunafreya's brother. It's only the four of them who freeze as he lunges at Noct.
It's only Prompto who screams as he pushes his best friend out of the way, who feels merciless teeth sink into his shoulder. Someone shoots and Ravus is gone--Gladio and Ignis yank off his thermal shirt to see the damage, Noct's holding his hand so tight his bones creak to try to stop him from shivering because he knows, he knows what a bite does, and then--
Safeties click. The ex-soldiers talk, cold and smug. Ignis and Gladio are forced aside, and then so is Noct, kicking and yowling like a cat, give him the anti-virus, you bastards, there's still time! He's dead. He has to be dead, and Prompto curls his trembling arms over his head to block it out.
And then they laugh.]
Well, maybe he doesn't need it after all. Why don't we test that? Nice and scientific.
[They throw him in an empty operating theater where they can watch from the windows but he can't get out. He's not sure how long he rattles the door, getting bloody handprints on everything. In the end, Prompto just curls up in a corner on the cold floor, sobbing, arms wrapped around himself, aware of the bite, aware of how cruel this is, to leave him here and wait for him to turn.
He cries himself to sleep eventually.
Prompto sleeps through Ignis and Gladio ensuring Noct's escape. He sleeps through Noct returning to the girls and begging for their help. He sleeps through the beginning of the rescue, through Noctis lighting Molotov cocktails and snapping swords against guns, the wrath of a god of storms. He sleeps through Mii-kun retrieving Lunafreya's keys.
He stirs when the commotion starts to reach the floor he's on. He sits up as a gentle girl's voice sinks in, the lock turns, the door opens.
And when Rii-san finds him, he presses himself against the wall, shaking like a leaf without his shirt, and the mark on his wrist--a bar code and the same logo she's seen on all documents related to the outbreak--is stark against his pale skin.]

Yuki, bless her heart, loves all of them the moment they set foot in Megurigaoka and when it's just that, just the idea of an extra few seats at the table and a few more mouths to feed Yuuri is more willing to consider it. It would be terribly hard, yes, but with an extra car and a weapon then more frequent trips out of the school for scavenging would be much more feasible. But when she realizes they're not staying -- when they're offering to take the girls out of the school with them -- then she's a little less so. They can't stay in Megurigaoka forever, she's always known that. But it's safe for now. All that awaits them if they leave the school is fear and uncertainty and she promised Megumi Sakura that she would keep these girls safe. How can she be sure she'll keep that promise if they leave the sanctuary Megu-nee left behind for them?
It's Yuki, as always, who shows her where they need to go. Yuki with her bright eyes who asks the newcomers endless questions and then as soon as she hears about Lunafreya (which is as ridiculous a name as Yuuri has ever heard) she spins around and says to Yuuri "We're gonna help them find her, right, Rii-san?"
And Yuuri can argue against logic and reason, can shout down Kurumi and Miki but even she cannot hope to stand up to Takeya Yuki's smile.
So they leave Megurigaoka. She's a nervous wreck the first few days, though she does her best to cover it up. But time does its job and the longer they're on the road the more at ease she finds herself growing. Their four new travel companions had kept themselves alive for this long so what's so say they'll have any trouble doing the same now their group's bigger? And as much as the voice of doom and gloom in her head scolds her for her complacency, Yuuri lets herself relax, just a touch. Besides, it's nice to have someone else to do the worrying with her and someone else to have their backs apart from Kurumi and her shovel. She starts to let herself think that maybe this will all have a happy ending. Maybe they really will find Lunafreya and this horrible nightmare will finally come to some sort of end.
So as much as she's horrified when it all goes to hell, Yuuri hates herself that she can't say she's surprised.
It's a screaming mess of confusion and chaos when they break in to fix it. It's worse than the day it all happened, worse than the day they lost Megu-nee. Because there's so much more to lose and they were so, so close to the end that Yuuri can hardly stand the thought of it. This was supposed to be done and finished when they got here but now there's no end in sight. She hates it more than she's ever hated anything and she needs to do something, anything to make it right again.
Maybe that's why she volunteers to be the one who goes and finds Prompto. None of them are exactly sure what she's going to find so she takes Kurumi's shovel, even as she hopes to god she won't need it. But she knows just from looking in the windows of the operating room that she won't. The boy in there, pale, wide-eyed and shaking is still Prompto Argentum and her heart aches at the sight of him in there alone.
She fumbles with the keys when she unlocks the door, nearly drops them she's in such a state and when she finally gets the damn thing open she goes rushing in without a moment of hesitation or any apparent fear for herself. The panic sharp in her eyes and the fear in her voice -- it's all for Prompto. ]
Prompto-kun-- oh, how could they just leave you in here all alone like this?! Those--
[ No word seems adequately bad to convey the sheer venom that surges up from her heart at the sight of him like this. She takes it slow, almost creeping towards him like she's a frightened animal she doesn't want to spook. ]
I'm... it's okay now. I'm here, okay? Are-- are you going to be alright? Can you stand?
