she did notice that one of the schoolgirls, yuri, is looking a little too off during the trial. can't really blame her, since both the victim and the culprit are very important to her. so she slinks off towards her, a plate of some odd mushroom dish in her hands. ]
You don't look so good. If anything you look even worse.

She hasn't understood it since they all woke up here together -- all four members of the Literature Club, all with one of those ridiculous titles and all expected to follow these ridiculous rules. They'd banded together, of course. They were a group of friends before they were a club (or so Yuri had liked to think) and for all their squabbles none of them are stupid enough to let that get in the way of survival.
Which is why it'd been such a shock when their first week into the game, someone had killed Natsuki. She was so small -- easy to overpower. It could've been any of them but it was the kind-eyed young woman they'd all thought of as a big sister who'd done it, who'd gone to her execution insisting that she had to, because she had a little sister to go home to and save.
It had been awful. She, Sayori and Monika had huddled together in Natsuki's room that night in a mournful wake after the fact. In fact, they'd all been sleeping there for the last few weeks so they'd all been present when they'd woken up, wide-eyed and shaking from memories none of them had known anything about before coming here. So Yuri should've known -- she should've seen that something was going horribly, awfully wrong.
But she doesn't. So it's a shock when they wake up on a Friday morning and find Monika at the bottom of the stairs, limbs at odd angles like a doll tossed carelessly to one side. Even in death, she still has that same curiously serene smile. And Yuri doesn't think, not for a moment, that Sayori would have anything to do with it. That her odd silence and wide, staring eyes were grief and nothing more.
Then it all comes out at the trial and Yuri can't make sense of any of it. Sayori babbles about -- deleting something, about the club presidency and Monika doing something awful and if she stopped her now, here, then maybe things back home would be alright. None of it makes sense and Yuri can only stare at her and hope that this is some sort of awful, awful dream.
It isn't. If it was, she thinks that execution would've been enough to wake her up.
At the afterparty, she's sat a little away from the others. Yuri keeps to herself anyway but she's been slowly opening up the last few weeks. Now though she's gone back to all her old habits. Closed off, head hung and throwing off all sorts of "don't talk to me" signals. Which is why it's a bit of a shock when Sucy actually does so.
Yuri starts a little and blinks, opens her mouth. Closes it. Then she gives a sigh. ]
Sucy. ...I--I'm sorry, I'm not... I don't think I can eat anything right now.

so it's a mystery, even to herself, why she chose to approach yuri now. maybe it's out of pity or curiosity... mostly the latter, really.
sucy watches her wordlessly for a few minutes as if waiting for yuri to give out a much more satisfactory answer, and when she provided nothing else, sucy pushes her own plate towards her across the table. ]
...It's not poisoned, if that's what you're thinking.
[ it's all goopy and filled with mushrooms for some reason and it smells kind of odd, but this is what they all get for putting sucy in charge of this week's afterparty. seriously, who let this happen ]
no subject
[ And really, she wasn't. Sucy is a little strange and sure everyone else thinks she's a little creepy but Yuri's never found anything about her to dislike. She's to-the-point in a way that Yuri finds she appreciates right now and she can't imagine for a second that in the aftermath of such a horrible trial that Sucy would pull such a cruel trick.
She looks down and away, averting her gaze anxiously. ]
I just. I don't think I can stomach anything right now. N--not after...

[ even sucy's not that clueless. were she'd be allowed to show a little more emotion she'd definitely feel the same way as yuri if they switched places, but it's still something that sucy can't quite relate. does that make her heartless? other people might think so, tbh. which is why she usually opts to be alone.
a gruesome murder and an unsatisfying execution, coupled with weird-tasting food in the party thereafter. how can anyone have the appetite after all that? ]
But you know... If you don't eat, you won't last long here. Even if the food looks bad.
[ she tried her best ok ]

[ Sucy's just trying to help. It makes Yuri feel awful to turn her down like this when she's trying so hard but her stomach rebels at the thought of putting any food in it. So she just shakes her head again, hating herself that even with Sucy extending a hand in care like this that Yuri can't bring herself to actually reach back. ]
I just... tonight, I don't think I can eat anything. Tomorrow, I'll make myself have breakfast at least or-- or something. But right now... I'm sorry.
