[ Those last words. "The person you really are." They echo in her head, over and over.

The person you really are. ]

The real me... really is...!

[ Uh oh, here come the tears again. She's not normally like this, she swears. ]

[daydreamy]

Oh-- I'm sorry-- no wait, is this good crying or bad crying? I mean, either way, I don't want you to cry but. If you have to cry then happy crying is probably... actually, okay, I'm shutting up now.

[ She pats herself down a little, like she's trying to find pockets -- as if she might have a tissue or a hankie or something to offer. Nada. ]

Are... are you gonna be okay? This whole... other world thing. I know it's a big shock.

[ Ryouma(?) nods a couple times - I'm fine, I'm fine - and at least composes herself faster this time. She wipes the tears from her eyes, idly lamenting that she's such a mess the first time she's ever gotten a chance to be even a little beautiful. ]

Sorry, I'm okay, I'm just... really happy...

[ There's a lot going on that would be hard for her to put into words. She just had something she's felt in secret for her entire life validated by the physical laws of the universe itself. ]

I don't really know how much you can answer, but I do have a lot of questions. Like... why did I end up here, like this? What are you doing here? Why are we dressed like this...?

[ "How do I get back" could be a pertinent question, too, but it's the furthest thing from her mind. ]

Uh, those are some real good questions, I feel kind of sorry that I don't have any real good answers to give you.

[ She has the good grace to look guilty about it, at least. ]

I don't know a whole lot about this myself -- everything I do know, I got told by the person who was already here. But she said it's something about... having a strong will to change yourself or a really strong vision of what you want to become. If you've got that, you can end up getting pulled in here and becoming a Reflector.

[ A strong vision of what you want to become does indeed match up with her, so that part makes sense, at least. ]

A Reflector... [ Combined with the magical transformation, it almost sounds like some kind of superhero. Experimentally, she tries hopping in place - she feels light, but strong. ]

Do we have to fight, or anything like that?

Ohhhh boy, do we.

[ She sighs and scrapes her cotton candy pink bangs away from her face. ]

Didn't you see any when you got here? The uh. The monsters.

The what?

[ THE WHAT ]

The uh-- you really didn't see them?

[ She balls her fists, squares her shoulders and makes a gesture that is probably supposed to convey the idea of something really buff. The monsters she's talking about look absolutely nothing like that. ]

The monsters. They're big and spikey. They look sort of like glass ornaments walking around on their own.

[ She kind of had other things on her mind. ]

Don't worry. If it means I can keep coming back here, I don't mind fighting a few monsters.

[daydreamy]

You're probably gonna have to if we wanna get home. I'm still kind of... not good. At this. I mean, I can do it! I've just never had to fight with, y'know, a partner before.

[ But she likes the sound of that word. Partner. It makes her sound a little bit less like a loser LARPing around in a fantasy world by herself. ]

Do you have any idea what your... powers are, I guess? Have you got a feel for them?

[ Ichijou looks at her hands. ]

I don't really know? I feel stronger than usual, but-- ah!

[ As a reaction to something or other, she starts glowing. ]

What's going on? I made myself glow somehow!

[daydreamy]

Ooohhh, glowing's usually a good start! I have no idea what you're gonna do but it's probably something cool!

[ I'm so sorry this is your tutorial buddy, Ichijou. ]

So, how does it feel? Do you feel stronger, like you're about to start flying...? Seriously, just feel out whatever seems natural and I'm sure it'll work out fine!

Okay, I don't know what I'm doing but I'm just gonna see what I can do...

[ She closes her eyes and concentrates. As she does a circle of light gradually expands on the ground around her - when it expands to include Kyouko, she can already feel any sort of mild fatigue or pain melting away. ]

I think it's doing something. Is it doing something?

[daydreamy]

[ Kyouko's been hooked up to IVs enough times that she knows what a painkiller feels like. But this is a little different -- it's not numbness exactly but suddenly, the twinge in her knee from this morning when she took a bad step on the stairs is gone and she feels like she's just took a shot of coffee right to the brain.

She blinks once, twice and then suddenly sharper and far more alert than she was before, she gives a huge grin. ]

Yeah! Yeah, it feels like -- man are you really sure you can't feel it? But it's like... I guess, healing! Or something like that? I'm not even a little tired anymore, that's amazing!

Oh. OH! [ HEALING POWERS. THAT'S WONDERFUL. ]

That's great! This way, even if I don't know the first thing about fighting, I can help you out!

[daydreamy]

Yesssss. Now I don't hafta worry about getting socked in the face by monsters!

[ no kyouko, you should definitely worry about that??? ]

You think there's anything else you can do?

I don't think there's really any way to know just based on feeling it out... but this should be enough for me to back you up in a real fight. I guess I can figure out the rest of my powers as I go.

[daydreamy]

Yeah! Oh, oh, maybe we can have like... a training session or something! There's still a ton of stuff I can barely do and you still gotta work out how different it feels moving around... seriously, did you see how fast I was moving before? The first few times I went running around this place, I totally wiped out all over the floor when I tried stopping. Seriously embarrassing.

A training session..? [That sounds kind of fun, actually.]

You mean, right now? Or is there something else we need to do while we're in here?

[daydreamy]

Yeah, right now! I don't think there's any monsters we've gotta worry about nearby but uh, we'll probably run into one on the way back. So I figure it's probably a good idea to get used to each other's powers and stuff before we get into a fight with one!

[shineinside]

Okay!

[Bow. She's bounced back hard since the start of the conversation.] I'll follow your lead, sensei!

[daydreamy]

[ That gets a peal of embarrassed laughter from her. ]

Nnnnooo, don't call me sensei, I'd be the worst sensei ever. The kind that writes the wrong kanji on the blackboard and forgets to grade your homework...

[ At least she's uh self aware ]

But, uh! Which part d'you wanna start on first? I've kinda got the hang of moving around so we could start there?

That sounds good! I just assumed that I could just start moving and it would come naturally, but it sounds like it's easy to overdo it if you aren't used to being that fast or strong. I wouldn't want to trip and fall while I'm supposed to be helping you fight.

[daydreamy]

You'd think so, right? Like, I had the hang of all the hitting and fighting pretty much right off the bat but maybe that's because I uh, didn't really have a choice... kind of like a fight or flight thing, you know?

[ helpless shrug. ]

But honestly, I'm not really used to moving fast in general without wanting to keel over after about five seconds? So maybe it'll be a little easier for you.

[ Kyouko shades her eyes with a hand and peers around for a moment, trying to find a good landmark. Then she points out a tree a little distance away from them with wide, low-hanging branches and dripping with sparkling flowers. ]

How about-- see how quick you can get over there and back to me! How's that?

[ Ichijou pauses, that middle bit bouncing around her head. She looks back at Kyouko, not yet starting to run. ]

...I was so caught up in what being like this means for me, but this something you really wanted, too, isn't it? Having a body like that.
