• Sophie Summerhelm, ex-sickly anime waif, certified Good Girl. She's the student of one of the original six heroes, Amelie the Legendary Alchemist. In Hexapath Travellers, she journeys Adelheld on a self-imposed quest to prove herself and her mastery of alchemy. After getting mixed up with the party, they overthrow a conspiracy, summon a god, right wrongs and triumph over evil, all that good stuff. In Hexapath Future she has now replaced the disgraced Amelie as the Royal Alchemist but instead of sticking to one place, she continues to travel Adelheld as she feels continuing to spread happiness with her alchemy is her true calling.
• Nerine Kamille, raised in an orphanage run and funded by the Church of Light. In Hexapath Travellers, she has grown up and taken over the orphanage herself after its previous director had left. Busy as she is, she often requests the Hexaparty run errands for her, but always gives them a bed for the night in return. In Hexapath Future, her orphanage has since closed down in the wake of the Church of Light's scandal. She now works as part of the Adventurer's Guild, handling requests made by citizens and tasks to be assigned to adventurers.
• Plumeria Quinn, née Hazel Haverschaft, is the pampered and educated daughter of a disgustingly rich family. In Hexapath Future, she rebels against her controlling and stifling parents by running away from home and becoming an adventurer to escape an abusive home and an arranged marriage. Has an enormous amount of in-depth theoretical knowledge but little to no practical experience or common sense. A haughty ojou-sama trying her very best.

You can handle the blast area, right? It doesn't have to be something huge.

I'm more worried about the noise! If it sets off a bunch of echoes, won't there be a rockslide or something?

Don't worry about it. As long as we play it safe, we'll be good. This way.

[She gestures forward and carefully walks down the next hall, stopping suddenly to gesture at creatures skittering down past the doors.]

Bone rats. We can take them.

[summerbloom]

[ sounding absolutely horrified: ]

B–b–b–bone rats?!

[ With zero shame, she ducks behind Marie and peeks out. ]

W—what are bone rats?

[liveofftheland]

Hold on, Sophie. These are easy.

[A skeletal rat scratches at the floors and approaches with a creaky growl. Marie shoots an arrow at its skull, fracturing it.]

They go down in a few hits, tops. The only problem is if you let them swarm.

[summerbloom]

R–right...

[ She's tightening her grip on her staff as they speak. ]

What do you need me to do, Miss Marie?

[liveofftheland]

You're a pretty good alchemist. If you've got anything you can use for an attack, try that. If not, stick with the healing potions and your staff.

[summerbloom]

Alright, I'll do my–

[ my best is probably what she means to say, but at that very moment, one of the bone rats drops from the ceiling and lands with a horrible skittery thunk on top of Sophie's staff. Rather understandably, Sophie's response is a shriek of shock and disgust and without thinking, she swings her staff at the cave wall. There's a crunch as the bone rat is crushed between Sophie's staff and the wall. Lovely. ]

...That... works.

[The other bone rats screech and run towards them. Marie shoots the one she hit again, shattering its head.]
