Sophie Summerhelm, ex-sickly anime waif, certified Good Girl. She's the student of one of the original six heroes, Amelie the Legendary Alchemist. In Hexapath Travellers, she journeys Adelheld on a self-imposed quest to prove herself and her mastery of alchemy. After getting mixed up with the party, they overthrow a conspiracy, summon a god, right wrongs and triumph over evil, all that good stuff. In Hexapath Future she has now replaced the disgraced Amelie as the Royal Alchemist but instead of sticking to one place, she continues to travel Adelheld as she feels continuing to spread happiness with her alchemy is her true calling.
Nerine Kamille, raised in an orphanage run and funded by the Church of Light. In Hexapath Travellers, she has grown up and taken over the orphanage herself after its previous director had left. Busy as she is, she often requests the Hexaparty run errands for her, but always gives them a bed for the night in return. In Hexapath Future, her orphanage has since closed down in the wake of the Church of Light's scandal. She now works as part of the Adventurer's Guild, handling requests made by citizens and tasks to be assigned to adventurers.
Plumeria Quinn, née Hazel Haverschaft, is the pampered and educated daughter of a disgustingly rich family. In Hexapath Future, she rebels against her controlling and stifling parents by running away from home and becoming an adventurer to escape an abusive home and an arranged marriage. Has an enormous amount of in-depth theoretical knowledge but little to no practical experience or common sense. A haughty ojou-sama trying her very best.

[Marie steps cautiously into the dungeon and looks around, taking aim with the crossbow on her wrist at something.]

I'm sure I don't need to tell you to be cautious in here. There are a lot of places for monsters to hide out.

Right!

[ Sophie's not quite as well armed as Marie – all she's good is a plain wooden staff, but it's solid and heavy and Sophie's... reasonably sure she'll be able to defend herself well enough with it. ]

Do you think there's gonna be a lot of them in here?

[Once Alice is a proper ninja again, she seems to have kind of... forgotten, that people aren't used to magic ninjas.

Which is why she's sort of just... appearing. standing upside-down, hanging from a tree branch, like this is perfectly normal.]

Sophie. I have a question.

[ And Sophie probably would've been happy to answer that question, except what Alice gets instead is a shriek of surprise and Sophie almost jumping ten feet into the air. ]

Alice! [ her voice cracks. rip sophie. ] W–w–w–w–why are you in a tree?!

... What is the problem?

[IS THIS NOT NORMAL]

You're in a tree and you scared the heck out of me!

[ NO!!! ]

It could be. Watch.

[She snaps an arrow forward from her bow and a rat creature falls from the shadows up ahead.]

If we get through enough of this, we'll be able to find the ingredients you need for that next project of yours.

[So! Aran's a part of this weird little group now. It's safe to say no one saw this coming, least of all Aran himself. It's... not the smoothest transition, he's a little out of place. Honestly, it's... what's the word?

Uncomfortable.

That's just how it goes when you join up with the people you've been trying to kill for A While Now. Still! Life goes on, they still have a quest and everything, and things need to be taken care of. Such as buying supplies.

Somehow, it ended up being Aran and Sophie who got saddled with that, so out in town they are. This should be fun, right? It's a bonding experience!]

Keep moving. Don't dawdle.

[...Bondiiiiiing, yaaaaaaaay.]

Okay, if you're sure...

[ She sounds a little queasy at the idea of having to actually kill monsters but! It's for alchemy, so she's willing to give it a try. ]

We just have to take it slow and steady, right?

Uuu...

[ Sophie's been doing her best. No one could ever say she hasn't. She's a born busybody, a peacemaker until her dying day, so all this heightened stress and tension in their group has been... interesting to deal with. No one's actively fighting anymore which is good but they're also not talking or looking at each other which is giving her premature gray hairs.

No offense, Aran.

So here she is, out on an outing with this large terrifying man, in the hopes she might be able to find something they can break the ice with.

It... it's not going well. ]

Uh, so... Mister Aran, um... h–have you been to this town before?

[ BABY STEPS... ]

If you're worried, we don't have to attack anything that doesn't attack us first. Watch out for the traps, but this place is old. Most of them are already worn out.

[Aran is, for the most part, keeping his eyes forward as he walks. When Sophie talks, all she'll get is a single glance before he looks away again.]

Yes. I have.

[...Oh, that was it, that's all he's giving her.

[ Adventurer's Guild! Trainee registration! Group assignments! Let's see, the lady from the guild said that her team was meeting somewhere around here, right...?

An eight foot tall iron golem striders into the room, and it's followed by a girl who would look tiny even if she wasn't standing behind that thing. ]

Hi, I'm looking for my group! Are you Plumeria Quinn?

What kind of traps are you expecting?

[ Sophie's imagining mousetraps, because of course she is. ]

[ ... that's it?

That was it. Oh god. By Leta's graceful light. She's not strong enough for this. ]

Ah... wow, really? [ she's trying so hard ] I've never been all the way out here before... uh, I guess you've probably travelled a lot!

[ The instant the door opens, all the hairs on Plumeria's neck stand up for a second. She's so far from home and Plumeria Quinn is a name so over the top and ostentatious that it almost seems to escape notice. There's no reason for her to think she's about to be dragged back home and yet, it's the first thing in her mind for a split second every time she's heard someone approach.

That's all chased from her mind, of course, once her new teammate actually makes their way inside and... oh. Oh goodness. It's incredibly unbecoming of her, but it takes a solid five seconds before Plumeria can actually respond, all of which she spends staring with her mouth hanging open.

Then she catches herself and hastily clears her throat. ]

Ah– yes, Plumeria Quinn. You're correct.

[ It feels horribly fake and completely correct all at once to call herself that but she supposes it's something she's going to have to get used to. ]

I have. [There's a pause and Sophie would be forgiven for assuming that was it again, but mercifully, he continues speaking.] I was sent all over.

The church had a lot of business to take care of. I handled a lot of it personally.

[Business...]

[ Good idea: Dividing up the chores associated with making camp for the night. Bad idea: Rotating said chores amongst the party.

Which is how Plumeria and Kitt got assigned to cooking. They haven't been a party for long, which is how they somehow thought this would be a good idea.

Kitt is just kind of staring at the food and cooking supplies. She picks up a pot, turning it over in her hand... she gives it a practice swing. Wow, unbalanced.

She turns to Plumeria, still brandishing the pot like a really awkward club. ] So, Plum... What are we supposed to do, exactly?

[Celadon is, for a nice change, not visibly getting into trouble. The lack of Lulu being in the area may or may not have something to do with it.]

[She's just sitting on the ground underneath a tree, leaning back against the trunk. Her posture is as careless as a child's, legs splayed and robe trailing in the dirt. Her sightless gaze isn't fixed on anything in particular, but she seems to be toying absently with something in her hands and singing softly to herself.]

One and two and back to you- four and three but it's not me... how did the rest go?

You may cease waving that around like a bludgeoning tool, to start with.

[ Only regrets lay ahead. ]

And then we can decide what we're to serve for tonight's meal. Have you any experience with cooking at all?

[ the answer is probably 'no' but she might as well ask. ]

B–business... right...

[ You can practically hear the internal screaming, if you put your ear to the wind and listen carefully. ]

Are there any towns you liked better than others? Uh, I mean, obviously there probably were but– what I mean is, did you have any favourites?

Yes, of course! What kind of human do you think I am?

[ Kitt puffs - his? - chest up with pride, twirling the pot idly. ] You just throw stuff in a fire and then pull it out once it's black! It's not hard.

Don't know what all of this stuff is for though.

Hm?

[ Seeing Celadon occupying herself isn't exactly unusual and perhaps it's better to leave her well enough alone if there's no visible trouble. But Sophie is Sophie and the only way to make Sophie leave well enough alone is to physically restrain her. So of course she comes over to investigate. ]

Celadon, good morning! What've you got there?

Like that one.

[As they're about to turn the corner, she stops and points to a decomposed wooden part of the otherwise stone ceiling. Under it is a pile of rocks high enough to nearly fill the other passage, blocking it out.]

That one was there before. It's there to nab whoever sets it off, but it's ancient, so the wood rotted and the trap set itself off instead.

To be honest, they all blur together after a while. I was sent to a town, I took care of whatever "problem" the church wanted me to fix, and then I left.

Anywhere that wasn't the capital was adequate.
