[The good news is that, now that he’s made his point, he increases the warmth of his body in order to match that Average Human Body Temperature once again. Should make his touch a little less uncomfortable, at least in the sense it won’t feel like a cold machine hand.

He nods in response and, still holding her hand, seems to inspect her arm by simply staring in silence.]

Nothing is broken. [So far.] The damage appears to have come from blunt force trauma. Your muscles are bruised, specifically…

[He points to a spot with his other hand.]

They're just bruised... that's good. That should healer quicker and with less treatment necessary

[ Because of course she's already thinking about how quickly she can get back out and start getting into trouble. Of course she is. ]

Is there much swelling? It might need icing before it's bandaged, otherwise it could cause problems.

I know what an ice pack is.

[He shouldn't sound slightly offended by the insinuation when he would, in fact, have done some real dumb shit if she hadn't asked for an ice pack specifically but he still does.

So he walks off to rummage around and returns a few minutes later, with the ice pack retrieved from the back.]

[And then he presses it against her arm without warning.]

[ Ryoko yelps and almost springs clean out of bed (again) in surprise. This is not her day. ]

Give me some warning before you do that!

Regardless of whether or not I gave you ample warning, the ice pack would be no less effective.

[Gosh, organics sure are weird!! Metal leaves the ice pack with her and stands back up straight.]

Should I retrieve more supplies in the meantime?

[ She grumbles something extremely rude under her breath as she adjusts the ice pack with her free hand. ]

Bandages, if you can find them. And sterile tape. If they need to be wrapped, I don't want it all coming loose and wasting my time.

[And off he goes again; it isn't particularly different from when he went to get the ice pack. Gone for a bit, rummages, returns with the supplies in his arms.

Except for the fact that this time, he drags a little table from the other side of the room with him as he approaches, a handy spot to place supplies so that they're bed adjacent.]

[ Well, at least he's learning... ]

To start with, just reduce the swelling and pain with the ice pack, then when it seems to be at acceptable levels, wrap it with the gauze. Not too tight, or it'll cut off circulation – just enough to provide support to the damaged muscles. Can you handle that?

[ It's not that she completely lacks faith in him! She's just being realistic!! ]

[Metal nods, then sits on the side of the bed.

He takes a hold of the ice pack from her, pressing it against her arm - firmly, but not forcefully - until the level of swelling seems to have reached an acceptable level and puts the ice aside, so he can begin wrapping the gauze around her arm.

Surprisingly, rather than mummify her immediately, he does one or two loops of the bandage and then pauses, lifting his head a bit to look at her.]

Some discomfort is to be expected. But it is not constrictive?

[He was built to learn, even if medical aid wasn't what Eggman had in mind when he programmed his AI chip. It means he can pick up on the idea quickly.]

[ Ryoko watches him with a curious expression – not as cautious as she might have done, back when they first met. It's a little easier to forget he's, you know, a little killer robot guy when he's like this even if she knows it's foolish to ever really let that slip from her mind. They're tentative allies down here in Hell, sure, but she doesn't particularly want to know what would happen should circumstances change that.

Still. He's picking it up quicker than expected and he's not trying to smother her with the pillow while she's so helpless so maybe she can rely on him for now. ]

Not yet, it's not. [ She flexes her fingers a few times, just to feel the tautness of the bandage. ] I won't have all of my usual range of movement, but that's to be expected with muscle strain.

[He gets to wrapping up her arm as far as he believes is necessary, gives it a final firm pull and then holds it in place with one hand. With his other hand, he manages to peel the tape off of the roll, tear it off and apply it to the bandage where necessary.

When he said he had the ability but not the knowhow, this probably displays it best; he's clearly programmed to be very dextrous.

Removing his hands from her arm now that it no longer needs tending to, Metal looks to her again and says very seriously:]

Show me your legs.

Oh right. Never mind all that about forgetting the whole 'killer robot' thing. Suddenly, she's very aware of the fact. Which is fortunate for both of them because she's pretty sure her instinctive reaction to anyone else asking that so bluntly would be to kick them in the face. ]

Just so you know, some humans are a little particular about those parts of their bodies. You should be a little more delicate about asking about them in future.

[ Ryoko Does Not Show Him Her Legs. Give her a moment to like, mentally prepare herself and all that. ]

Does it matter now? I am not human. Your legs are no different to me from the rest of your body.

[Sorry Ryoko, he doesn't get it.

He won't push it at least. Metal sits back a little on the bed and he will wait patiently until she's comfortable, but it's definitely not done out of understanding but moreso indifference.]

[ Ryoko doesn't think the exact words 'this fucking guy..........' but it's definitely somewhere in that region. She sighs and then lifts her hand to flap it at him and beckon him a little closer. ]

Fine. Help me sit up, then.

[ She'll feel a little bit less weird about this if she can just sit on the side of the bed and have her legs treated that way. ]

[At the very least he does as she asks without complaint. Metal stands up from the bed and reaches out with both arms, actually taking her around the torso to help her sit up from the bed, but letting her guide him to where she wants to sit.

Once she’s sat up, he stands back.]

It's acceptable.

[ She carefully swings her legs over the side of the bed, wincing a little as she does so – the damage isn't anything she can't heal from, but it's still irritating to be put so far behind because of a careless mistake. ]

I suppose this means I'll be out of work for some time. I can't exactly ride a bike like this.

Either way, he kneels down in front of her, takes the ice pack from the table and-]

[-pauses a few seconds before pressing it against the injured part.

[ It's not so bad the second time around, especially with a warning, but she pulls a quick breath in between her teeth even so. It does ease the strain on her aching muscles, though, so she tries to focus on that instead. ]

It certainly sounds much more convenient. [ Said through lightly gritted teeth. See, she's putting up with it! ] There are so many things that slow you down in getting things done in a human body – or any kind of organic body, I suppose.

[As he pulls the ice pack away, he goes quiet as if he's really focusing on bandaging her up; his hands move to the roll of wrap, tape and scissors and he gets to work.

But she saw him do up her arm. It was evident it isn't that difficult for him practically speaking.]

Even so, I have ruminated on what you said before. Regarding mindset.

[ Huh. That's surprising to hear from Metal, of all people. It's easy to forget with how, uh, murdery he gets but he's got a strangely introspective side to him, in his own Metal way. ]

Was it... helpful at all?

[He finishes up one leg, but rather than moving on to the next he looks up at her from his spot on the floor.]

You put yourself in danger and this is the end result. [Referring to her injuries] You are frustrated with your injuries and lack of mobility. You knew this was a likely outcome, yet you acted recklessly and now you lament what you knew was very likely to occur.

Ryoko Shinonome. Why did you act so illogically?

[ She says that a little too quickly and perhaps a touch too defensively. It doesn't really answer his question, either. Ryoko lets that hang in the air for a second before she sighs and elaborates. ]

I overestimated my own abilities and underestimated the risk I was taking. I knew injury was a possible outcome, but it seemed like acceptable collateral damage and I was certain I'd walk away much less severely injured than this. In short, I was caught off guard and didn't think things through.
