[sanshu middle school has been talking about the newly transferred kiryuu twins for a while - the taller of the two, kaoru, is kind-hearted and popular in the art club, while the shorter michiru has won over the entire home economics class. they're both reserved, but friendly enough, although they don't have classes together.

michiru, in fact, has classes with karin, and although they're friends (of sorts, she's noticed karin won't actually say it out loud though) lately michiru has been feeling...strange. fluttery, even.

it's during lunch with karin one day that michiru pipes up.]

Guess it depends what kind of "like" you're talking about. But I'm guessing you mean the whole holding hands, going on dates shebang. Am I right?

My only reference seems to be shoujo manga, but that sort of seems. Extreme?

Yeah, definitely. You shouldn't take any of that stuff at face value. [ waving her chopsticks and jabbing them for emphasis as she talks. ] It's all played up and super dramatic to get people to eat it up. That's why the plots are usually crazy too.
