CMO/OC VOICETEST FOR EGLANTINE ROSEMOND
A voicetesty CMO for Eglantine Rosemond! plurk dot com i am so sleepy today ouy all saw my initial duo of plurks you know what its deal is. i will expand this eventually when i am no longer under curse of didnt sleep properly on a work night
This is a gen CMO but as usual, I'm happy to roll with assumed CR, AUs, setting transplants or w/e. Cliffnotes for those purposes are below!
- EGLANTINE IS...
- An AFAB, female-presenting human in her early/mid 20s. Genderless, uses she/it pronouns. It purposely cultivates an attractive, highly ornate and harmless appearance; layers of frills, soft pinks, gold ornamentation, etc. Its eyes are pink as is its long, wavy hair. For additional visuals, these two images provide a good idea of what she is wearing at any given time and Eglantine's PB is Minami Kotobuki from Oshi no Ko.
- On All Levels Except Physical, It Is A Sword. Eglantine was raised to be the personal weapon/assassin of a powerful person in the Chantphare Empire. Eglantine does not conceptualize of herself as a human, but a living sword; a weapon to be wielded by an owner to kill enemies.
- Brusque without being unfriendly; generally, she comes across as reasonably friendly and unassuming, if a little blunt and overly direct.
- Confident and collected to the point of being overly prideful
- Immediately and murderously devoted to her owner but just as quick to switch allegiances if her ownership changes hands
- Solely truly loyal & devoted to her 'creator', the person who 'forged' it.
- Exceptionally skilled in swordplay, as you might expect. It fights to kill. It carries an ornate sword by the same name as Eglantine that she refers to in the first person ("I, my, me") when discussing and generally treats as an extension of herself.
- A magic user. Its magic is extremely powerful but has limited utility; Eglantine can heal most any injury to its body up to and including dismemberment. The more critical the injury, the longer it's out of commission after healing.
- A BIG fan of killing and violence <3
- most horrifying of all: (fantasy) french
- A senseless berserker, violent on a hair trigger, etc — it genuinely enjoys fighting and killing but she's also not interested in senselessly killing for killing's sake unless the benefits outweigh the potential consequences
- Afraid of pain or death in any meaningful way
- Unintelligent, book dumb, etc — it was specifically forged to be disarming and unassuming and most people will generally be able to hold a pleasant conversation with it
EGLANTINE IS NOT...

[ Its tone is casual but as it speaks, it snaps the notebook shut in a brisk sort of way that betrays a bit of eagerness. It'd been busily writing away in its little flower journal, sure, but maybe Noah wasn't the only one who was feeling a little restless. ]
I will need to demonstrate. [ on him. as usual. ] Is that acceptable?

In the name of my education, please hold nothing back. Or, at least, hold nothing back unless it would cut my arms off.

[ ... hopefully, that was a joke???
Eglantine rises to her feet and with the brisk hiss of metal on metal draws her other half, too. Its stance is relaxed - the tip of the blade pointed at Noah in a challenge and one hand tucked neatly behind its back. ]
Come at me in whichever way you please.

[ His footwork is pretty good, on paper. The exact same stance Eglantine is using, since it's the one he learned from. His problem... well, one of his various problems is that he's no good with feints. Instead, he swiftly but predictably opens with a series of strikes straight down the center line. ]

While his focus is on her face and their crossed blades, Eglantine quite casually sweeps her leg out and kicks his legs out from under him. For a second, it seems like she's going to let him topple over and crack his head open on the floor but then it sweeps in, one hand flying to the small of his back and steadying them before he can go all the way over.
....................... in practice, it more or less just dipped him.
Casually; ] Compromising their mobility will give you an advantage.

Noah looks up at Eglantine for a moment, captivated by its grace and skill, before dropping his sword in surrender. ]
...Wait a minute, if I did that, it wouldn't be a sword technique at all!

[ ... then its mouth twitches up into a smile. That was probably a joke.
With a careful hand at his back, it guides him back onto his feet. ]
Swordplay is not entirely to do with swords, as it happens. The rest of your body is as much a weapon to be honed and used as the blade in your hand is. When you move to intercept a strike, what is it that does so: the blade, or your hands and feet?
no subject
Hmm...
Trick question! It's not the blade or the hand that strikes. The strike manifests in my mind before either has moved. So, the answer is that it's my heart that moves.
no subject
[ ... or so it says, but it's still smiling. Seems like he gave a good answer. ]
My point stands; your heart is not a blade and thus, you must hone more than your sword to have any success at swordplay.

[ ... this is... probably supposed to be an encouraging speech? It does seem like it has faith in him to improve, at least. ]
Should I demonstrate again? I will explain this time.
no subject
[ Sword stance reset! The smart move would probably be to try a different attack tactic, but because it's offering him a demonstration, it would be better to repeat the scenario precisely. So, when he attacks, it's almost exactly identical to his last attack. ]

[ Eglantine returns to its relaxed stance - one hand behind its back, casually parrying each blow. This time, its motions are a bit more slow and deliberate and its expression is just a bit more focused. ]
A move of that sorts relies on your opponent's focus being on your crossed blades. And your ability to move faster than their focus can adjust. Plant your foot to steady yourself and pivot...
[ Once again, her foot swings out but rather than knocking Noah down again, she taps the side of her foot politely against his ankle. ]
... as soon as you feel your opponent is unsteady.
