You...know the meaning of death?

[That's.......]

[.....]

[He shifts in place, almost a little uncomfortable.]

One would think they'd just delete the memories of those times.

Defeats yield data. Data is invaluable when formulating future strategies.

[...he is bothered by this, isn't he? Even Metal can tell.

And Metal fucking sucks at this kind of thing.
]

We do not have to discuss this further, if you find it difficult to. I am aware organics share a much more tense relationship with the concept.

Tch. Perhaps.

[He makes a face at that last part.]

Look, I'm hardly "organic" anymore. And I already died. So I'm not unaware of the experience.
mechspeed: (because both of them are artificial)

[personal profile] mechspeed 2022-10-28 10:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Organic" does not simply refer to a difference in flesh versus mineral. It is the fundamental difference between how we experience the world and our relationship with certain concepts, such as life and death.

As a "heroic spirit" [he somehow manages to say that with some disbelief. but it's mostly in moriarty himself, not the concept] you have not ceased to be organic. The way you think. The way you feel.

Even with a human body, I do not "become" human. I remain a machine.

[personal profile] divisors 2022-10-28 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
...

[He wants to argue it, but he can't, truly. Even if Heroic Spirits are shades of humanity, that's the key of it. Humanity. Though...]

Hm. Here's a thought for you. Let's say someone installed the ability to feel more emotions in you. Even with your body being metal, your processes being a machine, would that lead you to think like a human?
mechspeed: (i shout to the heavens above)

[personal profile] mechspeed 2022-10-28 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps. I do not necessarily understand exactly how wide the difference is, given I can only base it on what I have observed.

[And trust me, the narrator, that he fucking sucks at it.]

I would wonder whether or not a simulacrum of an organic life form would maintain the same thought processes when it knows it is made of wires and metal, not flesh.

[The hypothetical person may be less cautious given machines are more easily repaired, typically.]

Hm. An interesting question in turn. I knew of a Servant who was indeed what you'd call a "mecha". A powerful figure that could shoot down whatever he pleased. Whether he was human before...that's questionable. There is likely Servants that fit that role, though whether they retained their ways of thinking in a new form would be...hm.

[Hmmm.]

Do you think metal lifeforms are superior over organic ones?
mechspeed: (Many different things)

[personal profile] mechspeed 2022-10-28 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I believe I am superior to organic life forms.

[At least it isn't some weird...machine master race shit going on here, he's just got an ego. He doesn't inherently respect other machines or AIs over humans by default.]

However, I will admit...there are...certain aspects to an organic's power that I have yet to ascertain. But once I have figured it out, I will make it my own.

[It's lame shounen shit like friendship and heart or whatever, he's doomed narratively speaking.]

Sure, sure.

["ITS A NICE THOUGHT, DEAR" vibes on that reply, though Moriarty would be the first to admit a robot's advantages over a human first thing.]

[A little tilt of the head.]

Oh? What exactly escapes your understanding? What aspects?
mechspeed: (broken memories)

[personal profile] mechspeed 2022-10-28 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I just told you I do not know what it is.

[REALLY JAMES.]

But whatever it is that allows Sonic to overcome me. It is not his speed or his strength. It is something I have not been able to analyze.

Look, you can still have a hint of what it might be. Come on.

[binch!]

Hm. Perhaps his attitude?
mechspeed: (because both of them are artificial)

[personal profile] mechspeed 2022-10-28 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
What would his attitude have to do with it?

[That isn't something he can measure in power levels!!]
divisors: (cosine)

[personal profile] divisors 2022-10-28 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh. Hm. Well...its like...."the belief I can do it gives me extra strength on top of the stuff I already have".

Which isn't exactly scientific. But there is something to it.
mechspeed: (as everything disappears)

[personal profile] mechspeed 2022-10-29 07:48 am (UTC)(link)
Preposterous. Such a factor has no bearing on overall combat ability.

It is merely organic romanticization.

[See.]
divisors: (vertex)

[personal profile] divisors 2022-10-31 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Romanticization?

[He barks out a laugh.]

I guess it makes sense a machine would see it like that.
mechspeed: (i dont wanna live)

[personal profile] mechspeed 2022-10-31 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
It is something even you fall prey to on occasion, Professor. Of that I'm certain.

[But it's just a bias against organics, not him saying with any certainty over what Moriarty is like.]

But such feelings are merely an illogical justification for chemical responses within your brain. Nothing more.
divisors: (reduction)

[personal profile] divisors 2022-11-01 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, please. I'm a mathematician. Logic and numbers are my bread and butter.

[Now he's just contrary just to be contrary.]

Hm. I suppose logically, you could see that. But I suppose machines never could be able to grasp the most irrational of elements.
mechspeed: (pic#16037347)

[personal profile] mechspeed 2022-11-10 08:53 am (UTC)(link)
It is merely the divide in how we see the world.

You cannot help your organic tendencies, but I lack them entirely.

[And that's why he's so MISERABLE i mean Practical all the time.]
divisors: (Default)

[personal profile] divisors 2022-11-10 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
...Have you ever wanted to have organic tendencies?
mechspeed: (because both of them are artificial)

[personal profile] mechspeed 2022-11-13 10:38 am (UTC)(link)
There would be no purpose in doing so.

It would simply bloat my behavioural patterns with unnecessary code.
divisors: (vertex)

[personal profile] divisors 2022-11-14 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. And yet...people get by with that "unnecessary code" somehow, hm? Makes you wonder if some of it may be more important than not.
