[ That means she's in good company! Because when Ruu hears Shion's voice she also comes close to dropping her bag. She just barely manages to keep her grip on it as she whips around, unaccountably red in the face. ]

Shion-chan! I–

[ Whatever she was about to say just sort of dies in her mouth when she takes in the absolute mountain of chocolates in Shion's hands. She blinks once. Twice. ]

... All of those? Wait, for real, all of them?!

Yeah! Every last one!

[ It's not exactly the face of someone who's playing a practical joke; though, really, that sort of thing is probably beyond Shion to begin with. The smile she wears is earnest and sincere: she really doesn't see anything particularly wrong with this picture. It's a holiday, and chocolate makes people happy, so a lot of chocolate will make you very happy.

Nothing wrong with that logic, is there? ]

I made them myself! I followed the recipe all on my own, and decorated them!

[ There are little candied sugar bits on top, stars in all different colors. She shakes the bundle up and down a little, just for emphasis. ]

Well? Are you happy now?

[ Ruu really doesn't know what to say. She half-expects Shion to suddenly titter at her and say oh, of course they're not all for Ruu, but... that's really not Shion's style. And sure enough, as she leans in... that's her name on every single one of them. Seriously, how long would something like this have taken? Just one chocolate like this must have been some effort so a whole heap of them like this...

Her grip on her own bag tightens a little as she considers the box still sitting in there and then swallows hard. She gives Shion a grin that's pleased, flustered, awed and a little rueful (yes, really) all at once. ]

I'm... yeah! I'm super happy! Jeez, you really made all these just for me... I dunno what to say!

But you just said the perfect thing! Haruna, you're so silly!

[ Whether Shion is just too straightforward, too oblivious, or too single-minded, she doesn't seem to take in any of the more complex emotions behind Ruu's smile. What's important is that she's indeed smiling: she says that she's happy, and she wouldn't lie to her -- Ruu is way too nice to tell lies. All in all, a resounding success! ]

As long as you're happy, that's what's most important. It's what today's all about!

[ Not that it's too different from any other day for Shion, by that rationale. ]

[ As long as she's happy, huh? Jeez, somehow Shion always knows what to say. There's already a pink tinge high in her face, but Ruu feels herself growing steadily redder as she pulls in a breath and starts digging into her bag, tripping over her words the whole way. ]

I, um– since it's Valentines and I was making stuff for everyone, I– well, it's not as much as you made for me but I wanted to–

[ Give her a minute, she'll get there eventually. ]

Really?!

[ The bundle of chocolate in Shion's hands drops, with the sound of crinkling plastic hitting the tile floor at their feet. She needs both hands to wrap Ruu in an embrace -- she can't pull her arms around her and hug her, if her hands are full.

Thankfully, none of the chocolate inside looks like it breaks too too terribly, but Shion doesn't appear too concerned with that. After all, she can always make more. ]

Oh, thank you, thank you! Haruna, you're the best! Thank you for thinking of me!

[ She doesn't even get a chance to see what Ruu made for her: the fact that she was special enough in her eyes to make her a gift at all is more than enough. ]

[ Okay, she should probably be used to this by now given that Shion is... Shion, but she's still a little startled. She manages to hold onto her bag at least, but with Shion hugging her, she can't carry on rooting around for the promised chocolate. Not that she's complaining, of course, because it's never a bad time to get a hug from Shion. ]

Jeez, did you think I'd just forget you on Valentine's of all days? Uh, it's not as cute as the ones you made but I promise it'll taste good!

I dunno! I've never celebrated Valentine's before! And no one's ever given me one! You're the first one!

[ Not that the look or the taste of Ruu's chocolate really matters to her, one way or another. It could be burned to a crisp and taste as bitter as salt, and Shion would be overjoyed to take it, all the same.

And it's not even because she doesn't need to eat food-- ]

So it's super special, you know! Just like you're super special!

[ Oh god, she can't take this much direct praise from Shion. She's so red in the face, she looks like a tomato. She blows up, letting her bangs flutter up and off her forehead and generally tries to look a little more cool and in control than she actually feels. ]

At least wait until you actually try the stuff before you say that...! [ Not that there's any point to her protests when she knows better than anyone how much Shion is Like This. ] Here, let me go so I can give it to you.

O-kay!

[ She seems to take that as an order -- she plops Ruu back down to get settled, and waits patiently with an enthused smile on her face, rocking on her heels. She'll get to the bundle on the floor at her feet eventually (probably when she decides it would make Ruu happy to), but there are far more important matters at hand! ]

Do you need a drumroll? Hang on, I've got it!

[ She pantomimes the effect with the pointer fingers on both hands, but even if she's not playing an actual drum, she sure is...making the sounds....... ]

[ Ruu swallows down her embarrassment – or at least, does her best to – as she reaches into her bag and extracts her gift for Shion. She's doing her best to look cool and unaffected as she holds it out, but her gaze is going anywhere but directly at Shion's face.

It's a single heart-shaped chocolate, just big enough to fill Ruu's hand. The surface is uneven, glossy in some places and rough in others and the icing - hand drawn decorations and a wobbly attempt at writing out Shion's name - is similarly all over the place. But it's undeniably handmade and she clearly worked hard. ]
