Well. That was. ...Bracing?

[The snow is deep and thick outside, the fluffy blanketing mounds looking deceptively inviting over their bitter, chilled depths. But the common room at the Feathered Cap inn was warm and toasty, the solid walls and blazing fireplace keeping the chill at bay.]

[Charlotte and Penny largely have the room to themselves, party members and canonmates having retreated to their rooms from what was almost assuredly a completely absurd fight against some kind of holiday-themed threat that had previously been harassing the town.]

[Penny stares down at the pot of cocoa she's managed to brew over the hearth.]

[Charlotte, of course, had been the one to first suggest the idea of hot cocoa after the ghastly candy cane-horned deer monster had been defeated. Her suggestion to use its dubious horns as part of the recipe was, despite her repeated insistence that candy canes in hot chocolate were absolutely essential and why not make the best of what they had, unfortunately shot down. So she's working extra hard to make what materials she does have available to count.]

Hm... [She taps her chin, carefully pondering the question.] It depends on the method, really. What I used here is almost like steeping tea, but with chocolate in boiling milk rather than leaves in water. It's all about the scent, and a little bit of instinct.
