(Big Girl Edition)

A CMO/Voicetest/Whatever for the Good Future version of Brynhilde Pendragon! After abandoning her Revenge Roadtrip, reuniting with her remaining family and getting the nasty dragon magic yeeted out of her, Bryn has dedicated herself to becoming a travelling adventurer, getting herself into as many scrapes as possible. Still as cheerful, high-energy and off the string as her younger self, just less lost in the vengeance sauce.

BRYN IS:

• In her mid 20s now, still pretty tiny and petite and all that jazz. The one major difference between her and her younger self is that she lacks the rose growing out of her right eye. Instead, she now has both eyes (!), but her right eye is much lighter in colour than her left and is blind (though it appears like it should be perfectly functional? It's Magic). On top of that, she now has a gnarly scar over her right eye that resembles a twisted crest of rose vines. It most resembles a brand or a burn mark, but it's magically inflicted and will never fade.
  
• Now actually dresses in practical adventurer gear, with dark purple as an accent to her outfit. Still mostly fights with a lance, sometimes uses a sword too.
  
• Mostly free of the magical influence of her shitty dragon dad, but her enhanced strength and resilience remains, in part. She's still a LOT more physically strong than she looks, but not to the insane extent she was before.
  
• Book smart, educated and well-spoken and blithely socially awkward
  
• Curious and inquisitive, quick to learn, but also a total airhead
  
• Friendly, kind, well-meaning (mostly)
  
• Occasionally kind of smug and condescending to humans, as a result of being raised by a dragon


BRYN IS NOT:

• In apparent possession of any common sense or sense of self-preservation
  
• Genuinely cruel, actively malicious or mean-spirited to the average person
  
• Blessed with more than one single braincell
  
• Familiar with modern day culture or technology

[Rakel looks much the same as she did years ago, except that the four flower "hair buns" at the back of her head have lived out their lives, fallen off, and been replaced with two larger ones. That's how plant. When Bryn comes to her shack at the edge of town, Rakel looks up from stirring a large pot and smiles.]

Good morning! On an adventure? I heard you've been up to a lot lately.

Rakel, good morning! It's been too long!

[ And Bryn, as usual, seems to be in high spirits – she's always geared up like this when she and Reifr are set to head out on an adventure. ]

I'm so excited... we're traveling to the coast this time, to see if we can find passage to one of the selkie colonies! We'll be heading all the way out to one of this distant islands in the sea!

[leafygreen]

Oh, that sounds fantastic! Are you looking for anything in particular? Some of my potions might take a while to whip up, but I've got the basics right on hand.

[pyriscence]

Whatever you can give us! We'll be out on the sea and it'll be cold and damp... but it'll be hot on the way there, I bet! So what do you recommend?

[leafygreen]

[She sets down the ladle and starts to rummage through her shelves.]

The usual healing potions, of course, and I do have something for weather defence. It won't help against frostbite or anything like that, of course, but that shouldn't be a problem, and you won't fall sick from the temperature. Oh, and this one for sunburns if you get one anyway. Put it on the burn, don't eat it.

[pyriscence]

I'll take all of it!

[ Because of course she will. You don't have to worry about making plans if you have enough band aids to cover even the most gaping wounds! ]

Is there anything else you think we should take?

[leafygreen]

[Rakel takes this in stride, prepping a bag with them.]

Are you good with poison antidotes, or do you need to stock up again?

[pyriscence]

[ SHIFTY EYES... ]

Well, having a few extra wouldn't hurt... um, do tell me, do those also help to manage food poisoning too?

[leafygreen]

[eyebrow raise] Are you asking for food?

[pyriscence]

No, not food! [ for once in her fucking life ] But if one of us were to get sick from eating badly prepared food – or worse, something we aren't supposed to eat! How would we handle it all on our own?

[leafygreen]

That would be trouble. I'll get you something for an upset stomach. No charge. If you promise to remember which mosses are safe to eat from last time.

[pyriscence]

Yes, of course! [ Bryn beams at her. ] Cross my heart and hope to–

[ Then she pauses and looks a little troubled. ]

Hm, maybe "hope to die" isn't really the right phrase to go for...

[leafygreen]

I sure hope not. I can't exactly take a cutting and regrow you. [laughs]

... actually, come to think of, it would love to see you try, just to understand it...

Really, though, amputating anything is a pain even if you could grow a new person from it. Remember when I had to regrow some of my head?

[ She gives an exaggerated shudder. ]

Don't remind me... I had no idea gardening could be so gruesome...

[leafygreen]

Sometimes these accidents happen! At least I don't have blood, right?

[pyriscence]

I suppose... but that really wasn't the way any of us wanted to find out!

[ Grumble grumble. ]

You haven't had any more accidents like that, have you?

[leafygreen]

Oh, not lately! My studies have been relatively calm lately. In the end, knowing for sure you have feelings makes you truly appreciate feeling all kinds of things. Except maybe annoyance when something goes wrong. Sometimes I'd rather not have that one.

[pyriscence]

Frustration is good, though! It's that extra little push you need to not mess up next time!

[leafygreen]

But it's not good in the moment, is it? Your head gets clouded and it makes it even worse.

[pyriscence]

So that's the part where you stop using your brain and just follow what your heart says!

[ It's been a few months since Bryn's been in Favollr – being an adventurer takes her all up and down the continent with Reifr and strictly speaking, she wasn't due back through these parts anytime soon, not really. But a friend had offered them a ride through these territories on the way back from an errand and she hadn't really been able to say no. So here they are, back in Favollr and it'd all been so sudden that Bryn hadn't had time to send word ahead. It takes some, uh, negotiating with the guards for her to be let in, but thankfully she's a distinctive enough girl that eventually someone recognizes who she is, and lets her through.

By the time they've let her onto the grounds, she's so full of bubbly energy that she can't even make herself walk – she charges on at a brisk jog, beaming all over her face as the familiar garden comes into view. She could never give up travelling, but there's something so special about being able to come home. ]

Hellooooo, Big Brother, Naja! [ She's calling out across the garden and waving both hands, just to make absolutely sure whoever's here spots her... as if they even need the help. ] I've come home early! Well? Are you surprised?

[silvermeddle]

[Bryn will likely notice Naja first, sitting primly on a bench among the flowering hedges, but the reverse can't be said. Naja only looks up when she's called for, but before that, the little girl in Naja's lap looks up, making a face when the movement makes Naja's hands in her hair pull. Little Amirah, dark skinned and wild-haired like her mother with her father's nose and eyes and deep purple hair, notices Bryn before she even calls out, and leaps out of Naja's lap with a cry of,] Brynny!

[She sprints on ahead while Naja looks up, startled. By the time Naja stands, Amirah has attached herself to Bryn's leg, arms flung around her in the best hug her little five-year-old self can manage.]

Mama! Brynny's here!

So she is! [Naja calls, and briskly makes her way over to the two of them, laughing lightly.] Surprised indeed, but always pleasantly. Did you have any trouble getting in?

[She usually likes to hail Bryn's arrival ahead of time for, uh, obvious reasons, but that sure wasn't an option this time...]

[pyriscence]

[ With the casual ease of rough and tumble big sisters everywhere, Bryn stoops down just enough to scoop Amirah into her arms and do a little twirl on the spot. She's not quite fool enough to roughhouse with her too much with Naja right there, but a little bit of fun never hurt anyone. ]

Goodness me, how many feet is it you've grown since I last saw you? Five? Six, perhaps? I'm already losing track!

[ Of course, given how much taller than her both parents are, that probably won't be a joke for that much longer.

She redirects some of her cheery energy back up to Naja, with a grin. ]

I had just a touch of trouble at the gates, but we cleared it up rather quickly. I suppose it helps to be so distinctive!

[silvermeddle]

[Amirah squeals and laughs as she's spun about, absolutely overjoyed. She cries,] Daddy says I'll be as tall as Mama soon! Right, right?!

Taller yet, perhaps.

[Naja laughs, lightly, her usual queenly decorum softened to see her girls so happy—Amirah attaches herself quite firmly to Bryn's side, with the occasional plea to be lifted again punctuating the conversation.]

That it does. I'll ensure the rest recognize you so there isn't quite so much of a hassle next time.

Your brother is out for the day, but should be back tonight. He'll be just as thrilled to see you, I'm sure. Have you brought your friends?

[pyriscence]

[ Well if Amirah wants up then Bryn is OBVIOUSLY going to just scoop her up and hold her there for this entire conversation. She's buff and tough!! Carrying one little girl is easy peasy. ]

Yes, yes! We've parted ways with Rakel for the moment, as she had some business to take care of back home, but Reifr and I made our way here with the intent of staying for some time. He had some things to take care of himself, so I decided I would go on ahead and surprise you all! But I think he plans to make his way here by this evening. So I get to have you all to myself for now!

[ She says it with a cheeky little smile. Bryn really will be Bryn until the end of time. ]
