She had to have come from somewhere, after all - though her mother had never admitted it and Ai knows full well that asking her would never have been worth it - and she doesn't think she's so exceptional as to be the only strange one in a sea of perfectly ordinary humans. She's far from normal, but that's entirely her own fault.
Still, though - she's never seen someone else like her, at least not consciously. She never forgets how different she is - how on earth could she? - but some days she simply drifts through her routine without ever putting any more thought to it.
So when the figure comes pouring out of the alley - Ai freezes.
