this ended up longer than i meant it to oops

[ Really, Ai doesn't know why she's surprised when the setlist for their next live goes up. While nobody publicly knows exactly what's going on with her and Rinne, they've appeared in enough things together and struck up enough of a rapport that people have noticed something. There's a bit of a stink online, as expected, but nowhere near as bad as Ai might have anticipated. Weirdly enough, there's more than a few people who think the potential of her as a good girl influence on Rinne is cute in a gap moe sort of way and while the idea of Ai being a good influence on him is as funny as it gets, it at least keeps them out of the fire for the time being. Maybe Saitou has the same thought or maybe someone decided to capitalize on this new hot commodity but either way, it shakes out as Crazy:B and B-Komachi sharing the stage at their next concert.

Never mind that their images totally clash. Never mind that Ai's pretty sure there's a gachikoi or two out there on the verge of ending up on the news at the very prospect of it. The potential for money making is there, so it's what's going to happen.

That and... come on. Crazy:B? B-Komachi? The cutesy wordplay practically writes itself.

For all the drama potential, the show goes off surprisingly without a hitch. Somebody had set the whole thing up pretty cleverly — the two groups never actually show up on stage at the same time, which keeps a certain type of fan happy and their prep areas backstage have no overlap, which keeps Saitou happy. The only place there's any crossover is in the waiting room when they're all getting ready to head out or catching a breath between acts and Ai's surprised by how... normal it feels. She'd sort of wondered if boys would have a different vibe as a group but while their image is totally off, it doesn't feel that much different from chatting with other girl groups in venues they've shared before. They chat surprisingly easily about work (even if Takamine makes a few, uh, threats when she thinks they might be looking at Ai or Nino for a bit too long). Ai splits a melonpan with the boy with his hair in a dark ponytail and chats with the cherry blossom boy about her time at Lala Lie. She doesn't get a chance to talk to Rinne — partly out of not wanting to set off anyone's alarm bells and mostly because when he tries to approach, Takamine beans him in the head with a melonpan.

But things work out okay. The show goes off without a hitch and Ai tries not to feel bad when she looks out across the audience and sings about love while thinking of Rinne the whole time. She tries not to feel even worse at the handshake session afterwards where she's wishing each pair of hands would turn out to be Rinne's instead. She wonders if any of them can tell. She's in pretty big trouble if they can.

It's a relief when she can finally retreat to her dressing room — hers, pointedly, and hers alone. Not a luxury afforded to the other girls in B-Komachi but the sort that just happens to get lavished on Ai. She's too exhausted to bother with changing or taking down her hair just yet so instead she plops herself down into the chair at the cheap vanity and sets to something much more important: getting in touch with Rinne. ]
